Candy in the classroom

Valentines Day is coming, candy is slowly being under played in many schools. Others classes work with sweets all week long.

Yes candy is still often taped or attached to cards as kids exchange Valentine greetings. I have seen in several stores Valentines cards in packages, along with themed pencils, or stickers.

There is candy that is allergy safe, but kids really have enough candy, sweets and treats. I'm glad to see so many cards coming out with non food items, in stores.



Once again candy grams are being sent in our school, children (for 50 cents each) send a note and piece of candy to classmates, with proceeds going to the school. I donate allergy friendly candies for this. The teacher and students involved know what candies, my daughter can receive.

These cookies pack the punch with spice. My kids ate two, then said they where good, but a little too spicy. I liked them, but I have a taste for spice, that others may not. Chocolate always wins us over, so does clear allergy information.

New Moon is always nut, egg and milk free, available mostly in Southern Ontario, but expanding into parts of the States. You can also follow them on Facebook. Some of their products contain biodegradable corn packaging made from corn, so may not be good for people with severe corn allergies.

Premium Chocolatiers have added to their Valentine's Collection two more products this year. All their chocolates are nut dairy and egg free. What a cute little bear holding chocolates free from dairy and nuts. The chocolates in the heart shaped boxes are simply elegant.

Orbit Cookie

Nafta Foods have their nut free cookies out under the name Orbit Cookies. They are nut free, but contain other allergens including milk.

Premium Chocolatiers

Premium Chocolatiers are shipping Valentine chocolates. All their products are nut free and vegan. long stem chocolate roses as well as heart shaped truffles. I had the pleasure of sampling their nut dairy and egg free chocolates last year and can recommend them with confidence.

Vadoncoeur

Vadoncoeur nut free chocolate treats. These heart shaped chocolates have a gooey caramel centre. Availible Canadian grocery stores, contains other allergens like milk.

Guardian Angel

Fancypants Valentine

Fancypants Bakery has nut free Valentine themed cookies. We will see if they plan to add more, this year. Snowmen with pink snowflakes, rose cookies and sweet words cookies.
